Buyer's guide: Sales training, consulting and mystery shopping

    Last reviewed

    What it is

Coaching, courses, consulting and mystery shopping for furniture sales teams. The goal is to close more of the people who walk in and to show owners what customers actually experience.

    What to look for

    • Training built for furniture, not general retail
    • Measured results such as closing rates before and after
    • Mystery shops with a written, scored report and recordings if allowed
    • Follow-up coaching, not a single day
    • Fit for a small team as well as a chain

    Questions to ask a vendor

    • What changed for a furniture client of your size after working with you?
    • How are your mystery shoppers chosen and trained?
    • What happens after the first session?
    • Who owns the recordings and materials?
    • What does it cost for our number of salespeople?

    How pricing usually works

Courses are priced per person or per seat. Consulting is by the day or on a retainer. Mystery shops are priced per visit or in a package. Ask for a total for the full program.
