    What it is

Software that uses artificial intelligence to write product descriptions, answer shopper questions, draft messages, forecast demand or find patterns in sales. Treat it as an assistant whose work needs a person's check.

    What to look for

    • A clear description of what the AI does and where a person must review it
    • Control over what is sent out in your store's name
    • How your customers' data is used and whether it trains outside models
    • Fit for furniture terms, sizes and delivery rules
    • A way to correct mistakes and report them

    Questions to ask a vendor

    • Where does our data go, and is it used to train anyone's models?
    • What does the tool get wrong most often, and how do we catch it?
    • Can we turn it off for a customer or a channel?
    • What does it cost at our usage, and what happens at the limit?
    • Which furniture stores use it today?

    How pricing usually works

A monthly fee, often with limits on usage, plus extra charges beyond the limit. Some charge per answer or per product description. Ask for the bill at your busiest month.
