    What the rule says

Retailers and other sellers of mattresses and foundations sold for use in California, Connecticut, Oregon and Rhode Island, including online sales delivered into those states (with an exception for out-of-state storefront sales delivered into Oregon and Rhode Island), must register with the Mattress Recycling Council, show the per-unit recycling fee as a separate line on the receipt and remit it to the Council. Per-unit fees differ by state: California $18.00 since April 1, 2026 (from $16.00), Oregon 22.50, Connecticut 19.50 from October 1, 2026, and Rhode Island 22.50 from January 1, 2026 per the Council's notice.
