Pennsylvania Bedding and Upholstery Law (Act 249 of 1937): registration and law-label tags

    Published

    What the rule says

Manufacturers, upholsterers, importers and suppliers of new mattresses, pillows, comforters, upholstered furniture and other filled bedding sold, leased or auctioned in Pennsylvania must register with the Department of Labor and Industry, use only new filling materials and attach a white law label showing the filling materials and the registration number. Used or renovated articles must instead be disinfected and carry a yellow tag, with secondhand dealers, renovators, auctioneers and rental businesses registering, and the Department states that a store selling only brand-new items needs no special license.
