Vanguard Furniture Finishes Rooftop Solar at Hillsville Plant

Vanguard Furniture has completed a rooftop solar installation at its plant in Hillsville, Virginia, according to Furniture World. The source reports that the system is set to offset most of the facility's annual electricity use.

The source article is brief and does not give further details on system size, cost or timing.

What it means for you

• Manufacturers: Peers with large plants may want to look at on-site solar as a way to reduce electricity costs and exposure to utility rates, though the feasibility depends heavily on roof space, local incentives and utility policy.
• Vendors: Suppliers of solar installation, energy management or facility services may see growing interest from furniture manufacturers in similar projects, worth tracking as a potential sales lead.
